THE ROCK
The uncertainty of God’s love is on the rampage this very instant. Many men (mankind) are truly doubting God’s love ever existed. They have hard facts and mounts of atrocities to prove it. How can God’s love ever exist when there is so much violence and terror in the world today? Where did the morning coffee and paper go and the evening news cap with an after-dinner snack and beverage disappear to? The news is so heartbreaking it is hardly simplistic to enjoy a hot or cold beverage let alone have a bite or a snack to relax from an honest and rigorous day at work. This is the heart of man in today’s world.
Men are fearful at the stories that they see on their local and national news. To turn on the television, one has to take a deep breath at the uncertainties of the next news report of this country and of others. “Where is the love of God?” men are declaring in their hearts! Everyone wants to know where is God in all of this calamity and obscurity in the world. There is a great deprivation in the hearts of God’s people. Somehow when we look at the horrific reports in the media and social media we believe that this is the outcome of God’s perfect plan for all men. This is exactly what the adversary wants you to believe, but it is not true. God is good and he sees all of the tribulations that the church and the world has encountered. It is now up to us, as the church, to understand and believe that the tribulations that we are encountering are only to make us more confident that the Lord is on our side. The church is exempt from such atrocities. You must never give in to believe that these tribulations are to punish you (the church). It is a wake-up call to the entire world that the end is near and you must repent and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. The world says, “Why do I need a Savior?” Oh world, you need a savior to save you from your sins, you need a savior to save you from what’s happening now and what’s to come and most of all to have eternal life with God, whom we love. This all comes by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
The church has never been more safe then it is now. Jesus prophesied and told Peter that the church is built upon this rock which was Peter, a spiritual foundation, and that the gates of hell shall not prevail (to succeed; become dominant; win out) against it. Jesus said the gates of hell shall not be successful or dominate, or win, against the church. It shall not prevail! The church is built on the foundation of an apostle of Jesus Christ, Peter, who Jesus referred to as a stone and a rock.
A rock is a large mass of stone forming a hill, cliff, promontory, or the like. Promontory is a high point of land, or rock, projecting into the sea or other water beyond the line of coast; a headland. Jesus makes it very clear in definition that the church, which is the body of Christ, is on this magnitude, a foundation called the rock which is also wide-spread into the oceans. We the church are covered in every area! How can anything prevail against something that the foundation is a rock? When adversity comes your way, in any form, it will either crumble or shatter to pieces because we are spiritually protected by a rock that Jesus ordained and prophesied to the church so long ago in a conversation with his Apostle Peter.
We may not see this stone or rock that surrounds and underlies the church, but it is there. Can you see your salvation? No, but you can receive it by faith. The just shall live by faith! Therefore, you must not fear what you see in the media, you must not fear what you see with your eyes and everyday walks, you must not fear of what you hear with your ears because the just shall live by faith. If anyone ask you how you’re able to be so calm and peaceful in these tribulations, you say, my trust and hope is in the foundation of my salvation, the rock! Amen.
“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (MATTHEW 16:18).
“And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone” (JOHN 1:42).
