Cover Up
There isn’t a day that goes by that someone or something hasn’t insulted us. Insults are deadly to the soul. You know when you have encountered one, when you would rather never to associate with that person(s) again. It will suit you just perfectly to never have human contact with them ever. Insults are an arrow to the soul. They are different from most offenses. Insults are as a target practice, it will keep coming until you are down. It doesn’t target the mind, or the heart. Insults target the soul. Behind every insult is layered with arrogance and contempt. You know when you have encountered it because you have made a solemn promise to your inner man that you will never, ever look at that person(s) again. Just the sight of them is putrid to you.
It is a terrible thing to be insulted, after all , it has taken a lifetime to become who you are today. The very existence of your being is in totality of the hard work and perseverance of every affect that God has put into your being. The breeding from your parents, whether it’s good or bad, reflects who you are today. Your education, your gifts from God, your skills, vocations, your behavior, and your mannerism, are all layers of the extraordinary work that God in heaven has demonstrated through you to get his glory. Our heavenly Father uses us as magnificent mounts to the world of his extraordinary work and talent through us. This is the only way for you to have a total victory in every area of your life. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasures (PHILIPPIANS 2:13).
Our heavenly Father makes no mistakes when it comes to you. God has even prepared a book for each and every one of us with his magnificent work and craftsmanship that he often reads, remembers ,and honors all the work that he has put in us (PSALM 139:16). In this particular psalm, God declares that every member of our body is written down for remembrance to him. Every thought that God has toward us are precious and they are plenteous (PSALM 139:17). These are the sure promises that God has given us, that we can always return to our lineage where we originally came from. God says in his word to listen to him and to always follow after righteousness and when you have a need, always look for your assurance from him and look into the rock (Jesus) where you originally came from and the place where he originally found you (ISAIAH 51:1). How marvelous is this!
God has put good work and strategically conformed us into wonderful human beings and he will develop us in his own time. Many times he takes us on long journeys for us to discover what he has implanted in our very existence. He introduces us to different cultures, nations, sites, and people to help us according to the work and the power he put in us (EPHESIANS 3:20). Every step we take is ordained by the Lord. We can’t grasp it all but we are sure that it is for certain that we belong to the almighty God in heaven. It is for us to recognize this factor that we are God’s creation and that he made us and not ourselves (PSALM 95:6). In all of this we must trust in his word. God has put great thoughts and work into our lives. Therefore, if someone insults our being , it is detrimental! It is a severe offense to insult God’s handy work (his people). To show arrogance and contempt is a very serious act. God hates arrogance and pride and evil. These things God hates (PROVERBS 8:13).
Pride and arrogance only targets those who are comfortable and rested in their assignments from the Lord. Pride and arrogance hate peace and joy and when it sees this in you it will always strike with complacency, arrogance, and insults. God truly hates arrogance in every form. Arrogance usually comes with the reassurance that everything one has, whether it’s education, wealth, good health, comes from their own achievements and accomplishments and not God. God oftentimes is not even in their thoughts or hearts. If this is not examined closely, then apostasy (turning away from God) will follow.
The nature of insults are glib and sly. Oftentimes they can be silent but you can detect its darkness which unfolds as arrogance. There is only one way to deal with this treacherous behavior and that is the love of God. Love covers a multitude of sins. You say, “How do I do that if the love comes from God?” God’s love is inside of you if you are a Christian, waiting to operate in any situation you encounter. When God created you, love was one of the fruit he put in you once you became a born-again Christian. God is always downloading his marvelous works in us. Love is one of the fruit of the Spirit (GALATIONS 5:22-23). It is in you. You say, “I don’t feel it”, but God assures us that it is inside of us.
Charity, which is to give with the spirit of love, is most powerful! Loving someone is wonderful, but you want to put the love to work, which would be charity. Do something great for the person that insulted you. Take them to dinner, buy a gift or flowers, this type of love, which is charity, God promises will cover their insults or sin. “Why?”, you say, because God is love (I JOHN 4:16). God’s love literally covers that person(s) offense and the pain and the anger will leave you and your antagonizer will be set free! It will be the same way it was when we insulted everyone with our complacency until we stopped and saw the light (Jesus Christ) and God’s love covered our sins. In this process, we have to forgive the offense and in doing this Jesus blood washes their sins and God’s love covers the insults the way it did with us so many years ago. Yes beloved, Jesus shed his blood for the remission of sins (forgiveness of sins).
We, too, must believe the same thing when someone insults us. We forgive them and then the blood of Jesus washes their sins away, then God’s love, along with your charity (giving) will cover all of their sins. It’s the perfect cover up. Amen.
“Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins” (PROVERBS 10:2).
“And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins” (I PETER 4:8).
