WHO IS THE GREATEST?
Not being told that you are great forces you at becoming great. Not being told you are great will cause one to be envious within yourselves and cause a constant battle of becoming great. Not being told that you are great can cause you to reflect on your inner self, focusing on every fault and closely examining your inner mind and spirit. This reflection of oneself never mirrors at the outer man, only the inner man where the spirit man resides. It is that man (inner man) that causes you to be great!
The inner man, spirit man, if examined closely by you, will reveal all of your imperfections and uncertainties as a human. The inner man reveals arrogance, complacency, hypocrisy, apathy, bigotry, racism, and hatred. Not being told you are great causes you to always strive to be great. In this process of striving to be great you're always looking for approval from your fellow man. It could be approval from social media, performing - as in spectacular demonstrations and seeking attention, as in temper tantrums, being too needy or too aggressive. All men want to be great at what they do, all men. Everyone wants to be great or greater, or the greatest! We all have fit into one of those categories at one time or another. Many times we have fallen into a terrible, embarrassing situation in our lives and we are left with a scar of humiliation and we think that God is not in it but He is.
You see, beloved, in the humiliation that we so often experience God is right there in the midst of our most embarrassing humiliations; humility, yes beloved, humility. Out of our humiliation comes humbleness. Humble is the root of humiliation. Humiliation causes you to be humble. Once a man (mankind) is humiliated this causes him to retreat to one’s own inner self. That’s when the search begins. When you are humiliated in any event, you never go to another person because you are so embarrassed you retreat. This is where you will find the humility, waiting, ever so quietly, for you to embrace.
This is also where you will find God Almighty, in heaven, who is holy dwelling. God dwells in a contrite (remorseful, repentive, apologetic, regretful) spirit so He can revive (bring back to life, wake up, give new strength or energy to) the spirit of the humble. This is the inner spirit man that lives in all men, waiting to take his form in you. Once we learn to embrace and live out this inner man of repentance and humility then and only then, can we say, I am great. Amen.
“For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones” (ISAIAH 57:15).
“At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven “(MATTHEW 18:1-4).
