MEET ME AT THE BROOK
There’s a place that men must go one time or another. We are completely unaware of its environment. If you are a Christian, sooner than later, if you are not a Christian your day shall come. This place is ordained by God himself before you were formed in your mother’s womb. It’s a safe place of haven. Once you go there you will remember the exact time and place forever. All men have an appointed time with God to have a divine destiny with Him. The place is at the brook.
A brook is a small stream of body of water flowing within the bed and banks of a channel. The spectacular sounds of a babbling brook are so serene that you will never forget its encounter. Our heavenly Father God will tell all men to go to the brook the way He told Elijah to go to the brook of Cherith. That was the place that God himself from heaven met with the prophet Elijah the Tishbite. There, God had provided for Elijah everything he needed to complete what God had for his next assignment. There at the brook, God provided food and water and ordained ravens from heaven to supply Elijah with his daily meals twice a day. God knew what was ahead of Elijah and there he was alone at the brook with God. A place of peace and tranquility no other persons, just God and Elijah, before his next assignment. When the brook dried up then God told Elijah to go to Zarephath which belongeth to Zidon, which lived a widow and her son that Elijah ministered to. Elijah was able to do all that God would have to him to complete by being at a resting place with tranquility and beauty at the brook to fulfill all that God had ordained for the widow and her son in the city of Zarephath.
It was the same with Jesus and his disciples. Jesus met with his disciples in gardens and at the mount near brooks to speak with them about the kingdom of God, preparing them for all that God would have them to do. God in heaven wants to meet with you also at the place of beauty and solace. The brook of Cedron was a particular place that Jesus met with his disciples. This beautiful brook was near the Mount of Olives and the Garden of Gethsemane, the last place that Jesus met with his disciples. A place of destiny for Jesus and his disciples that changed the course and time of history. It was there at the brook that they took Jesus to the cross. Although to the disciples as witnesses it seemed to them as the most horrible time that they encountered, but indeed it was the greatest moment in history. This was Jesus appointed time to drink his portion at the brook like Elijah. The world was never the same after Jesus drank his portion of the water at the babbling brook spiritually. It was an encounter with his Father, God in heaven, that changed history and salvation for all men was born.
You too have an appointment with God at the beautiful serene babbling brook. All men do one time or another with God. You will not know when this day is coming but you will drink your portion at the brook with God as Elijah did and Jesus’ disciples. Jesus himself certainly had to drink his portion at the brook with his disciples and so will you. God will draw you there with an encounter with himself. A quiet place, beautiful and surrounded by a tranquil of peace. It is when you leave this place you will then know your true assignment and your ordained calling from God.
There are many tasks and assignments we all feel that we have completed for God but you will know in your spirit that God has called you to a particular assignment from heaven to be a blessing to his people and change the course of life. Don’t be afraid of this encounter from God. You don’t have to plan or prepare to go there. When the time is right you will be there by God’s Spirit. And behold you are at the right time and the right place and God will use you to change history. God is always doing something new and he’s always using His people, saved or unsaved. God uses all men for His glory. The time will come when God will speak to your spirit and say, “Meet me at the brook.” Amen.
“And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan” (I Kings 17:1-3).
“He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head” (PSALM 110: 7)
“When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples” (JOHN 18:1)
