IT'S TIME
The anticipation on the school bus had me tapping my feet on the floor to the rhythm. The rhythm of my little feet causes my head to go from side to side. The music comes from my heart. No man can hear it but myself. As I look out of the metal and glass window on the yellow school bus, I knew it was almost time. Then the moment of excitement came. The sound of the folding doors opening quickly as the school bus driver tightly clenches the handle. My sister, my brother, and I walk down the steps of the school bus. I would walk down the steps, skip the last step, and take a giant hop on the ground, rejoicing that school was over. We would have our dinner, homework, and then my sister, brother, and I would take our bicycles and go to our evening destiny: the sandhill.
The sandhill was a place that my sister, brother, and I would take solace. The ocean was literally behind our home. It was about several miles and my sister, brother and I would ride our bicycles to the ocean. We could smell the water as we got closer and closer. Sometimes I would ride my little sister on my handlebars. This, of course, would always delay our journey. Nevertheless, we always persevered. There we arrived at the ocean but there were tall mountains of sand we had to climb to see the ocean. There were wooden stakes in the sand that were driven into the sandhill so we could climb to the top of it. It took a while for us to get to the top but we kept pressing and pressing and climbing and climbing until we got to the top. This sometimes would take a few hours to get to the top. Nevertheless, we persevered. All of this made it more exciting for us to get to the top. When we finally reached the top of the sandhill we could see the ocean. It was so magnificent! We would stand there, on top of the sand mountain, with our little hands on our waist, and marveled. This was our adventure of the day.
Myself, being the oldest, would see the sun going down and I would say to my brother and sister, “We have to get home before dark. We must hurry”, but yet our little hearts stayed because the sun started to set over the ocean. It was such a beautiful sunset we could not leave. With the sun setting over the ocean it was something like we had never seen before. It was beautiful. However, we knew we had to get back home before it got dark, and we did.
It is the same with the body of Christ. There are signs on earth today we must take heed to before it’s time to go home (heaven). Jesus made it crystal clear that there would be wars and rumors of wars; He said see not that you be troubled; for all these things must come to pass. Nations shall rise against nations, and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines and pestilences and earthquakes and divers places. All these things are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
These are some of the signs that the body of Christ must take heed to. There are signs we must look for before the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We must take notice and look for the signs. We cannot ignore the signs of Jesus’ return for us. God is not going to send Jesus and surprise us. God will give us signs to let us know it’s time.
Jesus taught us, as a fig tree putteth forth fig leaves and you know that summer is near that’s the parable we are to learn. When you learn something, you memorize it. It stays with you. Jesus said that we shall have great tribulations, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, nor ever shall be. We must take notice of all of the warning signs. Jesus is standing at the door right now because most of the signs are fulfilled. We have to look up because Jesus is about to return for His church. Are you ready?
Just like my sister, my brother, and myself, we knew when it was time to go home because of the signs. We saw the sun setting over the ocean before it got dark. We knew we had to go home. Every day when the sun sets over the ocean when we climbed the sand mountain, we knew it was time to go home because of the sunset. We, too, as the body of Christ, must also know when it’s time to go home (heaven). Jesus is standing at the door but you can’t see Him until you look up. You must look up. When we look up then we will see Him standing at the door. When we see the figs on the fig tree coming forth, it’s a sign that summer is near. Then we know that the signs of the end times are almost over. Jesus is standing at the door. Look up. It’s time. Amen.
“Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah” (PSALM 24:9-10)
“ Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled” (MATTHEW 24:32-34).
