LET’S GET STARTED!
Most of us have volunteered to start or begin a New Year’s resolution. New Year’s resolutions, at many times, last a few months at the most. We are eager and excited at the beginning. However, within a few months, we are ready to put our resolutions behind us. Why is this beloved? Why do we pledge to ourselves to do better or persevere toward goals and dreams, only for them to plummet to the ground? There are many successful people when it comes to New Year’s resolutions, and we are glad about that! God wants all men to be successful when it comes to defining and purposing their life to be better.
A resolution is a firm decision to do or not to do something. God wants to help his church in this area. Goals are always lucrative when there is someone in your corner encouraging you to triumph such as; a coach, teacher, or guardian. When one faints in his goals or is lackluster, your advocates will stand strong every time, cheering you on, believing in you when oftentimes you don’t quite believe in yourself. God in heaven is your Creator, and he loves you with a perfect love. It doesn’t have to be a momentous goal for God to cheer you on. It can be a microscopic matter(s). God is in it if only you ask him. God wants to help you in every area of your life. Why? Because God created us with his own hands. God made us in his image. Therefore, God will not only encourage you, God will not only help you, God will not only show you, God will perfect the very thing you and I are desiring to resolute for 2023 and hereafter. If God created it, he will perfect it always.
Beloved, every dream or desire you have, God has put it in your hearts, even New Year’s resolutions. If only you would take a moment to pray and ask God to help you. Jesus is waiting for you to ask our Father God through his name. When God helps us, his perfect will is revealed in us because he has put it in us to do his will. Yes, even New Year’s resolutions. What a marvelous concept and blessing this is. Let us all get our paper and pen out and write down our New Year’s resolutions, then pray to God for guidance. Let’s get started! Amen.
“The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands” (PSALM 138:8).
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” (PHILIPPIANS 1:6).
“ For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure” (PHILIPPIANS 2:13).
